You will join a dynamic research environment at the Institute of Microbiology, supporting experimental and computational groups in microbiome research. You help drive collaborative projects, manage data, and maintain computational tools to enable cutting-edge discoveries.

Deine Aufgaben

  • Support and contribute to research projects by applying and advising on bioinformatics, biostatistics, and modelling approaches
  • Analyze, integrate, and visualize multi-omics data, such as genomics, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and imaging data
  • Collaborate with researchers on study design, data interpretation, and developing reproducible computational workflows
  • Manage research data, including organization, storage, documentation, and submission to repositories
  • Help maintain and develop shared computational and IT infrastructure with IT staff and senior bioinformatician
  • Support training for institute members in bioinformatics and computational biology through consultations and training sessions; experienced candidates may take a leading role
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of bioinformatics tools, pipelines, and methods for biological data analysis; experienced candidates can initiate and lead method development projects

Was du mitbringst

  • Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field (MSc, PhD, or relevant experience)
  • Experience in bioinformatics and/or computational biology, especially in analyzing biological data
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams
  • Programming skills in Python, R, Bash, or similar languages
  • Experience with omics data analysis (genomics, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics); experience with other data types is a plus
  • Familiarity with Linux-based computing; experience with high-performance computing is an advantage
  • Knowledge of reproducible research practices, workflow management, and version control (e.g. Git)
  • Depending on experience: skills in data management, public repository submission, maintaining bioinformatics pipelines or infrastructure, training or mentoring, and developing bioinformatics tools or workflows
